Robotics Researcher, Locomotion

ABOUT CLIENT

Our client is a leading research company specializing in technology innovation

JOB DESCRIPTION

Conduct research and development on locomotion controllers and motion policies for a bipedal humanoid
Train and assess policies using the company's in-house simulation engine across various behaviors, such as walking, recovery, stair climbing, and load-bearing
Create reward functions, curriculum schedules, and training infrastructure aimed at producing resilient policies for real-world implementation
Facilitate systematic simulation-to-reality transfer and hardware iteration
Incorporate locomotion outputs into the wider autonomy stack
Gather and analyze hardware data to inform policy enhancements
Contribute to the public release of locomotion research and Cyclotron tooling.

JOB REQUIREMENT

Demonstrated expertise in reinforcement learning, optimal control, and rigid body dynamics
Previous hands-on involvement in training and implementing locomotion or motion control policies on physical legged robots
Proficient in Python; extensive familiarity with JAX or PyTorch
Familiarity with physics simulation environments like MuJoCo, Isaac Gym, Genesis, or similar platforms
Proven capability in bridging the gap between simulation and real-world applications on an actual platform
Ability to quickly iterate, identify failures, and implement data-driven enhancements
Previous experience focusing on bipedal or humanoid locomotion
Expertise in whole-body control, model predictive control, or loco-manipulation
Knowledge of motion capture or real-time state estimation pipelines
Record of publications in RSS, ICRA, CoRL, or similar forums

WHAT'S ON OFFER

Join a renowned research team to work on impactful projects
Take ownership of the core training code infrastructure used by the team
Engage with real models, data, and scale, rather than small-scale problems
Contribute to bridging the gap between research velocity and engineering quality
Enjoy a flexible work environment with a culture that values depth, clarity, and curiosity
