Director of Engineering

JOB DESCRIPTION

This position will revolve around leadership, process creation, mentoring and supporting technical teams. Your goal will be to build cohesive, efficient teams capable of delivering highquality software and hardware that aligns with our business objectives.
You'll need a high level of technical experience while working closely with engineering and other departments to ensure our engineering efforts support the broader needs of the company, while also being hands-on in guiding the team's technical direction.
Technical and Program Management
Lead and mentor a team of Project managers, Business analysts, Developers, and QC to deliver innovative solutions that meet user needs and business requirements.
Act as a trusted advisor to the Head of Product to plan strategic roadmaps and offer expert insights and recommendations on technical planning and industry best practices.
Regularly report on project status, create measurement plans and report on KPIs and Metrics to ensure team efficiency and product quality is always improving.
Promote a high standard for creating the best user experience when proposing technical solutions and providing technical guidance to project teams.
Be a strategic decision maker by constantly weighing trade-offs based on opportunity cost, critical bugs, tech debt and exercise sound decision making ability while understanding the core needs of the business.
Maintain accountability for delivering quality on-time implementation.
Monitor the security of the system, proposing enhancements as needed.Participate in the evaluation and adoption of new technologies, tools, and frameworks to enhance solution delivery capabilities and drive innovation.Identify risk and deal with it accordingly to maintain commitments.
Develop and document new policies, processes, and guidelines to improve efficiency.
Leadership and People Management
Participate in talent hiring & review processes to create high functioning technical teams.
Develop talent within the team monitoring personal development plans, goals, training, coaching, and give feedback.
Promote and drive a positive environment that fosters respect, collaboration, openness, and equality.
Work with teams to resolve people issues and project barriers and do root causeanalysis to help teams continuously improve their practices to ensure maximum productivity.
Act as a role model and cultivate respect by leading as an example and not the exception.

JOB REQUIREMENT

Fluent English, clearly understanding and speaking.
7+ years as an engineering manager.
A highly technical background, enough to solve many problems your team has yourself, but you prefer to guide your team into solving them.
Ability to explain technical details and requirements to a non-technical audience.
Self-direction, attention to detail, and reliability.
A diverse and deep level of leadership experience and the ability to cultivate leadership in others.
Passion for creating/adopting efficient business processes that increase velocity and improve quality.
A keen eye for hiring and developing high caliber talent.
Experience in working on complex cross-team projects.
Excellent strategic thinking and problem-solving skills.
Strong communication and collaboration abilities, with a knack for inspiring and motivating teams.
Nice to have
B2B SaaS experience for in house product company.
Experience with Hardware, Software, Mobile app eco system of products.
Experience with CI/CD pipelines and AWS cloud infrastructure.
Knowledge of and experience with PHP, React, Bash script, python, C, C++ or other relevant tech.
Understanding of networking principles.
