JOB DESCRIPTION

The main responsibility of an Engineering Director is to create and reinforce the post-M&A structure and bolster projects that deal with significant business challenges from both technical and organizational standpoints. You will use your diverse experiences in product and organizational development to give technical guidance, lead recruitment efforts, design roles and responsibilities, and plan budgets to produce high-quality development outcomes that make a substantial impact on the business.
 
In addition, you will establish connections with leaders from various business units and work towards overall optimization by overseeing multiple locations, including international offices within the organization. Key responsibilities include providing technical and management guidance to Engineering Managers and Team Leads across different organizations, implementing a system that encourages equal ownership and collaboration in development among employees in different locations, and leading or advising project leaders in creating and executing development plans, including resource allocation, responsibility delineation, and budget management for multi-organizational teams of various sizes and timelines.
 
Furthermore, you will be tasked with setting and tracking quantitative objectives using OKR/MBO frameworks and improving transparency and operational efficiency through rigorous documentation. This will minimize reliance on individual contributors and ensure smooth operations.

JOB REQUIREMENT

Requirements:
A minimum of 10 years of software development experience.
Proven ability to lead and develop teams on more than 5 major development projects. Skilled in making decisions related to product and technical specifications within complex, collaborative projects.
Advanced skills in interface design and process architecture for systems, especially those integrating multiple platforms or modules, with a strong focus on SaaS and cloud-based solutions.
Extensive experience in managing high-traffic applications, particularly in transaction processing and load optimization using relational databases.
Ability to set strategic goals, lead recruitment efforts, and oversee the evaluation and development of managerial and leadership talent.
Proficient in conducting business discussions and negotiations in English with international stakeholders, as well as proficiency in Japanese and English communication.
Additionally, experience in the operation and migration planning and execution of legacy systems would be beneficial. Experience in e-commerce platform development and management, as well as monitoring and analyzing business, product, and development performance metrics using advanced data analysis tools, is also desirable. A proven track record in optimizing existing processes through the integration of AI technologies, including Large Language Models (LLMs), would also be advantageous.
