Engineering Director

JOB DESCRIPTION

As an Engineering Director, your primary mission is to structure the post-M&A framework and strengthen projects with critical business challenges from both technical and organizational perspectives. Leveraging various experiences in product and organizational development, the role includes providing technical guidance, recruitment, role and authority design, and budget planning to generate significant business impact through high-quality development output.
Additionally, you will build relationships with leaders of each business and promote overall optimization by managing multiple Company Group locations, including overseas offices.
Provide technical or management guidance to Engineering Managers and Team Leads across multiple organizations.
Develop and implement a system that fosters equal ownership and collaboration in development among Company Group employees, including those at international locations.
Lead or advise project leaders in creating and executing development plans, including resource allocation, responsibility delineation, and budget management, for multi-organizational teams ranging in size from a few to dozens of members, over timelines of six months to a year.
Establish and track quantitative objectives using OKR/MBO frameworks.
Enhance transparency and operational efficiency by prioritizing thorough documentation to minimize dependency on individual contributors.

JOB REQUIREMENT

Must have:
Over 10 years of comprehensive experience in software development.
Proven expertise in team and organizational development across more than 5 major development projects. Demonstrated proficiency in decision making related to product and technical specifications within complex, multi-team collaborative projects.
Advanced skills in interface design and process architecture for systems. integrating multiple platforms or modules, with a strong emphasis on SaaS and cloud-based solutions.
Extensive experience in managing high-traffic applications, with a focus on transaction processing and load optimization using relational databases.
Competence in setting strategic goals, leading recruitment efforts, and overseeing the evaluation and development of managerial and leadership talent.
Proficient in conducting business discussions and negotiations in English with international stakeholders.
Proficiency in Japanese and English communication
Nice to have:
Experience in the operation and migration planning and execution of legacy systems.
Experience in the development and management of e-commerce platforms, including payment processing and account management systems.
Experience in monitoring and analyzing business, product, and development performance metrics using advanced data analysis tools such as GA4, BigQuery, and Firebase.
Proven track record in optimizing existing processes through the integration of AI technologies, including Large Language Models (LLMs).
