Senior Software Engineer (Typescript)

The individual must demonstrate technical expertise in product development and enhancement. They should have a strong understanding of the company's market position, core values, and direction to contribute to the company's goals.

The Senior Software Engineer should possess in-depth knowledge of specialist areas to continuously improve development practices.

They should utilize Cloud (AWS) services to enhance company product set and minimize development overheads.

Building strong working relationships with the Cloud Engineering team based on an awareness of the DevOps strategy and new services being implemented is crucial.

They will be responsible for implementing strategy and ongoing technical management of product specific third-party services.

Responsible for information security, data protection, and supporting the business in complying with legal obligations.

The Senior Software Engineer will work independently, acting as a role model in the team and across the department, setting high professional standards for performance and behavior. They will mentor team members, coaching technical skills and providing guidance and support. They are expected to provide constructive feedback on team members to their managers and assist with setting goals for their teams and individuals they work with.

They must effectively communicate complex information and concepts to technical and non-technical colleagues, and be able to influence others effectively, including at a Senior Management level.

Build internal networks for collaboration and sharing of knowledge to aid current and future performance. They will contribute to a team environment that rewards collaboration, knowledge sharing, and excellent relationship building.

Must exhibit understanding of high-level product strategy and standards and ensure technical product requirements are represented and incorporated into product roadmaps.

Demonstrates a strong level of technical literacy

Proficient in Object Orientated Programming (OOP)

Familiar with Amazon Web Services (AWS) and its components such as EC2, RDS, S3, Memcached/Redis (ElastiCache), CloudFront CDN, Cloudformation, Serverless (Lambda, API Gateway), DynamoDB, and AWS CDK

Skilled in languages such as Typescript, JavaScript, NodeJS, and Python

Experienced in working with data formats including JSON, XML, and YAML

Knowledgeable in relevant frameworks such as .NET, Angular2, Rails, Vue.js, and Yii2

Proficient in relevant databases such as DynamoDb and MySQL

Proficient in version control systems such as GIT

Familiar with Docker and Docker Compose

Understanding of API principles, service-oriented architecture, living documentation, and a documentation-first approach (OpenAPI 3.0)

Familiar with authentication patterns (JWT/Bearer Auth/OAuth) and protocols (SOAP/REST/HATEOS/GraphQL)

Experience with continuous integration/delivery, code quality tools (SonarQube, CodeClimate), testing frameworks (Codeception, Cypress, PyUnit, Rspec, and Jest), unit testing, functional testing, acceptance testing, TDD, and CI tools (TeamCity, Jenkins, CodePipeline, CodeBuild, Azure DevOps)

Proficient in using IDE

Strong adherence to coding standards and familiarity with networking protocols (HTTP/HTTPS)

Proficient in Microsoft Office, Jira, Confluence, and web conferencing tools such as Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and Google Meet
